Catullus 77

Catullus 77

Rufus, in vain and error believed friendly to me
(In vain? Indeed, with great and awful price),

Alas! miserable–have you snatched all good things of mine!
You have stolen it–alas! alack!–cruel venom of our
Life,–alas! alack!–pestilence of our friendship!
