Catullus 13

Catullus 13

You will, for a few days, eat well, at my home,
My Fabullus, If the gods are favourable to you:
If you have brought a good and plentiful meal
With you, not without a splendid girl
And wine and wit and all sort of ribald.
If you, I say, have brought these, our friend,
You will eat well; for the purse of your
Catullus is full of spiderwebs!
But you will accept pure friendship in return
Or whatever is sweeter or more elegant:
For I will give a perfume, which Venuses
And Cupids gave to my girl, which,
When you smell, you will ask the gods
That you be made one whole nose, Fabullus.
